Got an Idea?

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Come Recommended is a community that truly values the feedback of its members. In this spirit, we are asking for your suggestions: If you have a great idea for a new feature, please send it our way.

All feature ideas must be:

  • Keeping with Come Recommended’s mission of helping the best internship and entry-level job candidates connect with the best employers.
  • Catered towards the candidate audience and/or the employer audience.

If we implement your idea as a paid feature on our site, you will be able to use the feature for three months for free as a reward. In addition, Come Recommended’s first 250 candidate members and 50 employer members will get to beta test (three months of use) all new features for free–forever.

For more information or to submit feature suggestions, please send a detailed e-mail to comments@comerecommended.com.

New Feature Reminds You to Come Recommended

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

New this week, Come Recommended has launched a reminder feature to help candidates and employers Come Recommended. This feature will serve as a friendly reminder to those users who have not received their three recommendations yet.

The e-mail entitled “[Come Recommended] Friendly reminder” politely reminds you to follow-up with your references so you can gain access to the Come Recommended community. The Come Recommended team thought this would be a great feature to have because many people have signed up for the community, but there are still more than a handful of people who have not received all of their references and are missing out on many great features and resources.

Do you have any ideas for features we should include in future updates? Share your thoughts in detail at comments@comerecommended.com. If we implement your request as a paid feature, you will receive it free for three months as a reward. This is a community, and we greatly value your input and feedback.

Come Recommended Announces Charity of Choice

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

jobangelsThe Come Recommended team is pleased to announce our charity of choice: JobAngels. In keeping with our mission of connecting candidates with employers, JobAngels is an online community where each person has the same goal: to help just one person find employment.

JobAngels began in response to the economic downturn and the difficulty people were having finding jobs. Founder Mark Stelzner believes that if everyone helps just one person find a job, a major dent would be made in the number of unemployed Americans. Although this grassroots movement began just a few months ago, there are now more than 20,000 JobAngels across the country. Through social networking tools such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, more than 650,000 JobAngels messages have been sent. The members of JobAngels all share the same core characteristics: they are innovative and passionate about developing a new generation of meaningful and results-oriented talent networking.

Getting a job (or internship) is more difficult these days, and helping one another is incredibly important. Check out JobAngels at www.jobangels.org or follow them on Twitter.

We’ve told you about our core features, but some of us are visual learners. Take a peek behind the membership wall of Come Recommended in the video below!

Final “Core” Features Unveiled

Monday, June 1st, 2009

We’re pleased to announce the final “core” features of Come Recommended! (Just as a reminder, all of Come Recommended’s core features–those included in the original launch–are free to both candidates and employers. Although we do plan to add paid features in the future, these will always remain free.)

  • Private chats: If you are on your My Account page, other users are permitted to invite you to chat privately. This invitation will appear on the right side of your screen above the square ad. You can choose to accept or ignore the request, at which point the other user will receive a message telling him or her to contact you for a better time to chat. (This message will also appear if the user is already engaged in a chat session.) Similarly, to invite another user to chat, simply go to that user’s profile page and click on “Send Chat Request” on the right side of your screen above the square ad. This application can be used to conduct informational and first-round interviews in real-time.
  • Current openings: Now on an employer’s profile page, candidates will see the organization’s current internship and entry-level jobs posted to Come Recommended–again, on the right side of the screen.
  • Interview questions: To help cut through the clutter, employers are beginning to ask candidates to fill out interview or essay questions with their applications. Recognizing this, we’ve added that ability to the job board section.
