Public Relations & Social Media Assistant

CR|PR, a division of Come Recommended, is seeking multiple Public Relations & Social Media Assistants throughout the country to serve clients in their local areas on a freelance basis. Ideally, cities would include New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Chicago. Note: This is currently part-time but will become full-time as clientele grows.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Drafting media materials (i.e., press releases, e-mail pitches)
  • Developing story ideas
  • Actively reaching out to and following up with members of the media
  • Coordinating media interviews
  • Creating and maintaining social media profiles, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook

Start Date: Varies depending on local client needs
Location: Virtual (preferred cities include New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Chicago)
Compensation: $30/hour, plus a bonus for bringing in the most number of clients

Required Qualifications:

  • Dedicated to the mission of Come Recommended - connecting the best internship and entry-level job candidates with the best employers
  • Must become a Come Recommended member prior to starting
  • Undergraduate degree in PR, journalism or a related field
  • Some entry-level experience in a similar role or significant internship experience during college
  • At least one year of social media use (personally or professionally)
  • Able to work independently, but under supervision (virtually/from home)
  • Access to the Internet
  • Driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a reporter
  • Previous experience in a small business or start-up environment
